As part of the South Hornby School Performing Arts programme, Year 5 & 6 students can audition to be part of the South Hornby School Choir international exchange programme.

The choir exchange programme, run between South Hornby School (Christchurch) and Hawthorndene School (Adelaide), was first established in 2003 as part of the sister cities relationship between Christchurch and Adelaide.

Every second year the South Hornby School Choir travels to Adelaide, Australia as part of an international choir exchange. The exchange has proven to be incredibly rewarding as it brings together like minded children who have a passion for music and performance on an international stage. Students who have previously been involved in this programme still remain in contact with members of both choirs developing life-long bonds.
