2 March 2010
Dear Parents/Caregivers
What a difference a fortnight makes, the weather now warm and
dry has meant our swimming pool is getting excellent use. It
is pleasing to see the children not only enjoying themselves
but gaining in water confidence.
PARENTS INTERVIEWS - GOAL SETTING
These are being held tomorrow, Wednesday 3 March and Thursday
4 March from 3.00 p.m. If you haven't already received a time
to meet with your child's teacher, and wish to do so please
contact the school office as soon as possible.
PERSONAL DETAIL FORM
When you attend your child's interview you will be given a personal
details form containing information the school has on record
of your address, phone numbers and emergency contacts. Can you
please check, sign and update if required and return to the
school office. If you are not coming to interviews the form
will be sent home with your child. Thank you for taking the
time to do this as it is very important that we have the correct
information in case we need to contact you.
ABSENCES
Once again, thank you to all the parents who are using our absentee
line to report that their child/ren will not be attending school.
By law we are required to follow up on any child/ren who are
absent and your messages have saved us a lot of time ringing
families. If we have not had a written message or answerphone
message (it is not acceptable that a sibling informs us) your
child will recorded as a Truant. Please keep the good work up
over the coming winter months.
SCHOOL DONATIONS
With this newsletter you will receive an invoice for your school
donations. The Board of Trustees have kept the amount the same
as previous years $40.00 for one child and $60.00 for a family.
Your donations this year will be used to purchase more technology
equipment, which assist in your child's learning.
SCHOOL VISITS
Over the next few weeks our syndicates will be visiting Orana
Park and Willowbank. You should have received a separate notice
regarding these visits.
P.T.A. NEWS
Thank you to all of those parents, family and friends who have
taken chocolates to sell, it is most appreciated. Monies/or
unsold chocolates need to be returned to the school by Friday
12 March. There are still more boxes of chocolates available
to be sold.
There will be a mufti day on Thursday 1 April (last day of school
term) for a coin donation.
Thanking you.

PARENT SUPPORT GROUP
The Parent Support Group would like to thank all the parents
for their support throughout the year. Examples of money raised
this year are: Walkathon $3,700, Calendars $1,060.00 and Bunnings
Warehouse Sausage Sizzle $800.00.
Total amount spent on all children of South Hornby School this
year was approx $13,000.
Without your donations the children would not receive the benefits
of subsidised trips, subsidised school camps and all the extra
sports equipment and books not supplied by the Ministry of Education.
If you would like to be part of this group who help raise funds
for all children at South Hornby School come along to our first
meeting of the 2010 school year, to be held in the staffroom
on Thursday 4 February at 3 p.m.
If you are thinking of having a clean out over the school holidays
please think twice about throwing it out as we are planning
to hold a car boot sale in the early year.
